Unalome: The Ancient Symbol Shaping our Story & Brand

At Unalome Yoga, our story is intricately woven with the timeless elegance, profound meaning, and unique design of the unalome symbol. This ancient motif was first discovered by our founder in 2014 on the islands of Thailand, and serves as the inspiration behind our brand and its mission. 

The unalome symbol has a captivating, beautifully curved line representing the journey from chaos and struggle to enlightenment and inner peace. A symbol that visually encapsulates the path for the individual to accept and acknowledge the inevitable twists and turns of one's life journey, understanding that each challenge and experience is a step towards greater wisdom. The unalome invites us all to find beauty in the chaos, stay mindful in the present moment, and strive for inner peace and balance. 

Breaking it down: 

• The Spiral: The journey begins with a spiral which represents the initial stages of life where one faces chaos and uncertainty. 
• The Loops: As the path begins to unfold, filled with missteps
  and learned lessons, the mind finds more clarity. 
• The Straight Line: The straightening signifies personal growth, the attainment of wisdom, and understanding one's purpose. 
• The Dots: The dots appear far away from the rest of the symbol, representing completion of the path to enlightenment. An awakening and achievement of inner peace and balance.

As an avid hot yoga practitioner - combining the heat of Bikram with the flow of Vinyasa - our founder was used to the process of unrolling her mat and neatly laying a towel on top to help absorb sweat and avoid slipping. During practice however, she found it difficult to flow with ease as towels would constantly move, ultimately detracting from getting into a mindful meditation. Equally, she found her yoga accessories to be quite bland and boring, adding little to enhance the beauty within the four corners of her mat. 

This led our founder to the following questions... 

•  If yoga is a journey towards enlightenment, inner strength and wisdom, why settle for uninspiring yoga products? 
• To practice yoga is to learn how to connect mind, body, soul, and breath together...why detract or disrupt flow with insufficient accessories? 
• The unalome symbol overlaps with many of the teachings of yoga, but why is it not incorporated into designs across yoga products?
